RSPB WALK TO THE WEST

Join RSPB to walk the 4.5-mile route from Church Bay to the Rathlin West Light Seabird Centre and explore the upper end of the island. This guided walk starts with a steep climb up out of the harbour, but the views from the top are worth the effort! Visit our Knockans reserve and learn about our conservation work, then hear more about Rathlin’s townlands as you follow the island’s quiet road out to the west. The last section passes through the Kebble and Kinramer National Nature Reserve, with a beautiful landscape of heathland and freshwater wetlands that also holds secrets of Rathlin’s past. After a final climb, you’ll arrive at the Rathlin West Light Seabird Centre where our friendly team of staff and volunteers will be ready to greet you. Here you’ll be amazed by the sight and sound of thousands of seabirds, and you will also have a chance to explore the lighthouse while you learn about the wildlife and the history of this unique site. Transport will be provided for the return to the harbour. All money raised from this event will go directly back into our work on the island.
